The Sumela Monastery is a marvel because of its location inside the mountain and the embrace of the mountains. The Sumela Monastery rises 1,300 meters above sea level. Sumela Monastery was demolished and the monastery was closed. It was opened in 1975 as a museum and a tourist area for foreign and local tourists.
